Why was GLPIEF created and by whom?
GLPIEF was created in 2011 by Greater Latrobe School District administrators and community leaders who had a vision to create a nonprofit organization that would assist in funding, through philanthropy, innovative programs and projects to enhance and enrich the educational experience of students in the Greater Latrobe School District.
Is Greater Latrobe the only school district with an educational foundation?
In Western Pennsylvania, one in four school districts has an educational foundation and in Eastern Pennsylvania, three out of four school districts have an educational foundation.

How is GLPIEF funded?
GLPIEF is funded through philanthropy from caring individuals such as parents and alumni, businesses and corporations. These donors believe in our mission and we are extremely grateful to them for their generosity. Greater Latrobe School District supports GLPIEF with in-kind support for the majority of operational and staffing expenses and therefore the majority of donors’ gifts can go directly to supporting Greater Latrobe students.
